The Travels of Tug 44

Northern Water Snake

This Northern Water Snake is a brand new one, it's only about 6 inches long. Adults can grow to about 4 or 5 feet long. I spotted this one on a walking path next to a section of old abandoned Champlain Canal ... now a swamp. They eat small fish, worms, frogs, salamanders and crayfish.   high-res

The Northern Water Snake, a harmless little cutie when young.
