Champlain Canal Lock C-7 at Fort Edward

The northbound approach to Lock 7, offers 3 choices:
  • The entrance to Lock C-7 is seen at the gates.

  • Directly alongside the lock is the channel leading to the Fort Edward terminal with 6 ½ feet depth.

  • To the far left of Rogers Island is the main flow of the natural Hudson River which is NOT navigable.

The EPA/General Electric dredging is drawing to a close and is expected to be completed in 2015. Two plants just above this area had discharged PCB's into the Hudson River years ago, and dredging has been ongoing since 2008.
