New York State Canal Corporation Boats








The New York State Canal Corporation operates many different types of boats. Most are work boats such as tugs, barges, scows and dredges. Some are museum pieces such as Tug Urger shown in the photo on the left, and the Freighter Day Peckinpaugh now being refurbished as a floating teaching museum.

Most of the boats are quite old but are always freshly painted and extremely well maintained. The canal workers take great pride in their boats.
