The Travels of Tug 44

Best Covered Bridge
Brownsville, VT

The Best Covered Bridge was built in 1889 by A.H. Swallows to cross Mill Brook in West Windsor VT.

This bridge has a span of only 37 feet. Unlike many Vermont Covered Bridges, this one is painted inside and out with gray paint.

The Best Covered Bridge uses a Tied Arch construction. The arch is low to the roadbed and is made of laminated lumber. Steel rods though the arch hold up the roadbed.
