Silk Road Covered Bridge
North Bennington, VT

The Silk Road Covered Bridge, sometimes known simply as the Silk Bridge, was built circa 1840, with a span of 88 feet crossing the Walloomsac River at North Bennington Vt. An entrance to Bennington College is across the street.

It's a lovely wooded area around here, almost hidden by the trees.

The view from the side shows an oddity, they painted the outside of the truss beams where they appear thru the side window.

This bridge uses the Towne Lattice Truss design complete with oak dowels pinning the timbers together.

A look at the west side of the Silk Road Covered Bridge from the water.
