KV Buoy - New York Harbor

The KV Buoy marks the entrance to the Kill Van Kull Waterway at New York Harbor. This buoy is special because it is a "woofer". As it moves up and down in the waves, water pushes into an air chamber and the buoy makes a low-pitched groaning or "woofing" noise that can be heard for some distance in the fog.
