The Travels of Tug 44

Fire Fighter - NYC Fireboat

Fire Fighter is New York City's largest fireboat. She was built in 1938 and remains on active duty today. She is 134 feet long, 32 feet wide and has a draft of 9 feet. Fire Fighter is capable of pumping 20,000 gallons per minute, which would fill an average swimming pool in about one minute and 15 seconds!

I wasn't able to locate specs on this boat, but similar boats usually have 7 diesel engines, 2 to run the boat at 15+ knots, and 5 more to run the pumps. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Fire Fighter is part of FDNY Marine Company 9 and based at the pier at Stapleton, Staten Island.
