The Travels of Tug 44

Tug Lucia

Seen here with Barge Caribbean, Tug Lucia's 7,010 horsepower make her perfect for pushing tall petroleum barges. She was built in 1995, is 127 feet long, 38 feet wide, 69 feet tall, and has a draft of 17 feet. Her fuel tanks hold 156,000 gallons of diesel fuel, making her a long-haul tugboat.

Tug Lucia is seen here, docked at the Hess Terminal on the Kill Van Kull Waterway at Bayonne, NJ. She is owned and operated by Penn Maritime Inc.

A view of the barge Caribbean as seen from the Lucia's wheelhouse, as she makes her way off the Atlantic coast. Waves like this look impressive but have no effect on the boat.
