Gray Wolf - Timber Wolf

Back in March 2015 we got an invite to photograph at the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge. This is a Gray Wolf, also known as a Timber Wolf. I took these photos from inside the pen with only a 3 foot high gate between me and the Wolves. This one started circling around the pen, it looked like she was trying to get behind me ... and that made me nervous and I got out quick. :)   high-res

There were 3 of them in the pen and before I entered, they were just lazing around.   high-res

Yeah, just a big puppy dog ... but don't ever underestimate a Timber Wolf! There are still a few in the wild around here, in the Adirondack Mountains and northern Vermont to Maine.   high-res
