Indigo Bunting

The Indigo Bunting is a rarely-seen beautiful tiny little birdie. They are related to the Cardinals, Grosbeaks and Tanagers.   high-res

Indigo Buntings are migratory, they breed in the eastern USA and winter in Florida and points south.   high-res

The Indigo Bunting eats bugs and small seeds. This one is enjoying my black oil sunflower seeds, but they tend to prefer the smaller seeds such as thistle and nyger.   high-res

Indigo Buntings are rarely seen here in Fort Edward, but they are around. They prefer the edges of hay fields where they meet the woods.   high-res
